A Mobile Disc Jockey Service is an entertainment based business that provides a variety of music, specialty lighting, master-of-ceremonies duties and public address systems from self contained, portable equipment requiring a small operating space. Back to Top
How is a DJ better than a band?
| 1) A DJ doesn't take breaks during the night.
2) A DJ can go from a polka to a new top-40 song in one second flat. 3) Every selection a DJ plays sounds exactly like you hear it on the radio. 4) If a DJ gets sick, his company can find you similar replacement, they don't have to cancel. 5) DJs cost only half as much as a band. 6) DJs play a wider variety of music. (But if you can afford it, a good band is a great luxury and nothing beats a live performance!) Back to Top |
This depends on several factors. A DJ that might have been perfect for a teen rave party may not be a hit at your wedding reception. You may like an energetic up-beat personality, where someone else might want a more laid-back style. You should interview DJ's as you would any other service contractor. Any good DJ should not balk at your request to meet him/her prior to you making a decision. Ask for references and seek recommendations from friends, family or businesses that have used these services. Back to Top

How much does a Mobile DJ cost?
This depends on several factors such as how long you will need the services, how far the DJ has to travel to get to the event, logistics, special equipment and, sometimes, the day of the week or season of the year. Most services offer a base rate for a certain number of hours and an hourly rate for time used beyond the base. A reservation deposit is usually required to confirm your reservation. Remember, "You get what you pay for!" If an offer sounds too good to be true, be cautious. Back to Top
Yes, in order to hire me for an event, I request you sign and return a Performance Agreement with a non-refundable deposit. The deposit amount is deducted from the total rate. Back to Top
Do you charge for travel or setup?
There is no charge for either, except in extreme circumstances, i.e.: no elevator access to an upstairs event, or a venue more than 50 miles from our office, where a mileage fee of $.23 per mile may be assessed. Our set-up time is usually one hour prior to your event. If you require an earlier set-up time, $25.00 per hour wait time is charged. Back to Top
How long does it take you to setup?
We generally like to begin setting up one hour before anyone is to arrive as to not disturb any guests when setting up. It usually will take about 1 hour to completely setup and the same to tear down. Back to Top
When will you arrive the day of our event?
We arrive approximately one hour prior to our scheduled starting time. Please let us know if you need us to set up early. Back to Top
What type of events do you do?
We specialize school dances, special events, private parties, and a variety of other events. Back to Top
Is your sound and lighting equipment of professional quality?
Only professional lighting and sound reinforcement equipment is used to provide the very best in quality and reliability. All equipment is attractively mounted and professional grade backup gear is on hand in the event of equipment failure. Our system is designed to provide a high energy, bass pumping, body shakin' should and spectacular light show for almost any venue. Back to Top
What technical requirements do you have?
Most set-ups require three 8ft tables, appropriately dressed and access to standard outlets, preferably nearby. Technical requirements for your specific event will be discussed ahead of time. Back to Top
What type of music will you bring?
We provide every client with a full and complete music library. We base our playlist on what you and your guests like to hear. We offer all the latest songs and the variety you want - Oldies, Country, Rock, Hip-Hop, Disco, Motown, Alternative, Top 40 Hits and more! If we don't have it, we'll get it. All music is on CD for crystal clear sound. Back to Top
Absolutely! Requests adds to the spontaneity of the event. We encourage you to browse through our music catalog to choose specific music selections for your event. During your event, you and your guests are encouraged to request your favorite tune. Your disc jockey will play the music that you and your guests want to hear. We also honor your "do not play" lists. Back to Top
We have a list of songs we would like you to play; is that okay with you?
I am happy to take your requests and play music you are interested in. Keep in mind some music is better suited for listening during cocktails and dinner and other music is more popular for dancing. If you choose your favorite 20 songs there will be time to get to them all. If you give me a list of 150 songs you will have to hire me for more than ten hours! Back to Top
Can we bring some of our own CD's?
Absolutely, but it will help if you mark the CD's with post-it notes to indicate which songs you would like me to play. Please check with me first, as I may already have the music you are looking for. I always put your CDs on the gift table at the end of the reception, to make sure you get them back. Action Entertainment is not responsible for missing CDs. Back to Top
If something happened to my DJ, who would entertain at my party?
It would take something very debilitating to keep us from entertaining. In the event this should happen, we have experienced personnel who could be called in as back-ups. Back to Top
If my party runs later, can you stay longer?
| We always want to make sure the reception facilitiy has given their
O.K. on the extra time before we say yes. A half-hour notice for an overtime
request is appreciated. We charge $50 per half hour for overtime;
payable when the request is made. If you are having an afternoon event,
we suggest that you schedule enough time when you sign our contract. We
may have an evening event scheduled, and we would hate to end your reception
prematurely.

Every company says they're the best. Who do I believe?
Their current customers - after they become past customers! After you' ve gotten a few names and dates to check out a performance, wait until after the dates have passed, then ask the DJ for their numbers and call them. If you can't see a show yourself, this is the best alternative. If you just ask for references, we will be happy to mail you a list. Back to Top
